Courses on Discrete Math / Graph Theory at KAIST on Spring 2026
Here is a list of some courses related to discrete mathematics and graph theory in the spring semester of 2026 at KAIST. MAS59903 Advanced Discrete Topology Mon/Wed 13:00-14:15 Andreas Holmsen Convex polytopes are fundamental geometric objects which appear in a wide variety of mathematical disciplines. In this course we give an introduction to basic methods and modern tools of polytope theory, focusing on combinatorial aspects. We will learn important examples and constructions (e.g. zonotopes, Minkowski sums, non-rational polytopes, fiber polytopes, and the Lawrence construction) and discuss important results and concepts such as Steinitz’ theorem, f-vectors, h-vectors, the upper bound theorem, and oriented matroids.

Donggyu Kim (김동규) received the 15th S-OIL Excellent Dissertation Award (제15회 에쓰-오일 우수학위논문상) in Mathematics
On November 26, 2025, Donggyu Kim (김동규) received the 15th S-OIL Excellent Dissertation Award (제15회 우수학위논문상) in Mathematics from the S-OIL Science Prodigy and Culture Foundation (에쓰-오일 과학문화재단), the Korean University Presidents Association (한국대학총장협회), and the Korean Academy of Science and Technology (한국과학기술한림원). This annual award recognizes young scientists in the fields of mathematics, physics, chemistry, life science, chemical engineering/material engineering, and IT. Donggyu Kim was a research student of the IBS Discrete Mathematics Group from July 2019 to February 2025, and received his Ph.D. from KAIST. He is currently at the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Hiring! The IBS Discrete Mathematics Group (DIMAG) Research Fellowship (Due: December 3, 2025)
The IBS Discrete Mathematics Group (DIMAG) in Daejeon, Korea invites applications for four research fellowship positions (senior researcher positions). DIMAG is a research group that was established on December 1, 2018 at the Institute for Basic Science (IBS), led by its Chief Investigator (CI) Sang-il Oum. DIMAG is located at the headquarters of IBS in Daejeon, South Korea, a city of 1.5 million people. Currently, DIMAG consists of researchers from various countries and the work is done in English. DIMAG is co-located with the IBS Extremal Combinatorics and Probability Group (ECOPRO).

MAS.40077 Introduction to Graph Theory CS.49900 Special Topics in Computer Science <Algorithmic Graph Structure Theory> 월수 13:00-14:15 Sebastian Wiederrecht 그래프의 Tree-width, Branch-width, Tree-Independence Number, Clique-width, Rank-width, Directed Tree-width 등을 다룹니다.

Nerode Prize 2025: Call for Nominations
Nerode Prize 2025 — Call for Nominations The EATCS-IPEC Nerode Prize for outstanding papers in the area of multivariate algorithmics is presented annually, with the presentation taking place at IPEC (International Symposium on Parameterized and Exact Computation). The Prize is named in honor of Anil Nerode in recognition of his major contributions to mathematical logic, theory of automata, computability, and complexity theory. IPEC 2025 will take place as part of ALGO 2025 on 17–19 September 2025 at University of Warsaw in Warsaw, Poland.
